JAMMU, Oct 14: Delivering an inspiring address at the Graduation and Convocation Ceremony of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS), Indore, Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director (ED) & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, called upon young doctors to “learn endlessly, innovate fearlessly, and serve selflessly” – qualities he described as the true mark of a healer and nation builder.
The ceremony, held for the MBBS, BPT, and BOT Batch of 2019, was attended by faculty members, management representatives, proud parents, and graduates, celebrating years of academic perseverance and excellence.
Dr Gupta said that graduation was not an end, but the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and service. He emphasized that a medical degree carries a moral responsibility to serve humanity with compassion, ethics, and innovation.
Encouraging the budding doctors to blend knowledge with empathy and integrity, he underlined the importance of integrating modern medicine with India’s traditional healing systems such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. Highlighting the transformative role of technology and artificial intelligence, he said the future of healthcare demands “digital literacy combined with human compassion.”
Sharing AIIMS Jammu’s innovative initiatives, Dr Gupta spoke of the Institute’s waterless biochemistry labs, genomic testing facilities, and green healthcare innovations. He urged students to transform curiosity into research, strengthen academia-industry collaboration, and create solutions that uplift communities.
He further emphasized preventive medicine, rehabilitation, and community health as vital aspects of a doctor’s duty, encouraging graduates to promote health awareness using modern communication tools.
Linking his address with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’, Dr Gupta quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words: “You are now going from a closed and protected classroom to an open classroom – keep the student mindset in you alive.”
Dr Gupta urged graduates to uphold the three principles of compassion, integrity and excellence – values he said would guide them in healing both body and soul while contributing to the nation’s progress.
