GRP seizes heroin-like-substance worth Rs 24L from drug peddler’s residence

JAMMU, Oct 14: The Government Railway Police (GRP) Kathua today conducted raids at the residence of a drug peddler already in their custody and seized heroin-like-substance worth Rs 24 lakh.
One Mohammad Yasir of Maggar Khad, Jagatpur, District Kathua, was recently booked under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act in case FIR number 09/2025 registered at Police Station GRP Kathua after 4 grams of heroin-like-substance was recovered from his possession, a police official said.
Subsequently, he said, a team of GRP Kathua conducted raids and searches at his residence at Maggar Khad, Jagatpur area.
During the searches, two separate packs of heroin-like-substance worth approximately Rs 24 lakh was recovered from his residence, the police official said.
A khokri and one toka was also seized from his residence, he added.
According to the police officials, further investigation in the case is underway to explore the forward and backward linkages related to the narcotics as well as narco-terrorism.
Pertinently, the raid and search team was led by SDPO GRP Vijaypur, accompanied by SHO GRP Kathua.
