JKAS officer released

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: A senior JKAS officer, Mohammad Rouf Rehman, who is posted as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Verinag Development Authority, was released today following the stay order granted by the Court of Principal District Judge (PDJ) Anantnag.
He was arrested on the directions of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Anantnag, Feroz Ahmad Khan and was sent to judicial custody till October 15.
The Court admitted the appeal for hearing and stayed the operation of the order of CJM under which the officer had been sent to jail.
The CEO was represented by Advocate Ilyas Nazir Laway, who argued the matter strongly before the Court, while the opposite side was represented by Advocate Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar.
By virtue of the stay order granted by the PDJ Anantnag, the officer stands released from civil prison pending further proceedings in the admitted appeal.
