SRINAGAR, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Congress Party has resolved to resume the chain hunger strike under the banner “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” to reiterate the Party’s demand for restoration of complete statehood to J&K.
The hunger strike had to be put on hold due to the natural calamity and subsequent loss to life and property in Chenab valley and elsewhere in Jammu as well as Kashmir region. The strike will start from October 18 for the remaining districts who could not observe the strike given the loss of life and property due to natural calamity.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Tariq Hameed Karra has urged upon the Party leaders and District presidents to gear up for the hunger strike under the banner ‘Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’ to strongly stress upon the Central Govt to fulfill its promise with regard to restoration of Statehood to J&K.
Statehood is the Party indigenous movement, we will not rest until the Centre Govt fulfills its promise and restores the dignity and honour of J&K, Karra added.
