Srinagar, Oct 4: The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) today registered a case against five persons for circulating a fake selection list purportedly issued by the National Health Mission (NHM).
In a statement issued here, CBK said the case was registered following a complaint from the State Nodal Officer, NHM J&K, alleging that a fake order titled “Provisional Selection List of Candidates for Different Posts (Kashmir Division)” was being circulated on social media.
The fraudulent document, purportedly issued under Notification No. SHS/NHM/J&K/HR/10259 dated 10.05.2021, was found to be forged and caused confusion among the public, CBK said.
It stated that a preliminary inquiry revealed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, an NGO named J&K Health Care Services was approved by the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, to provide voluntary manpower in medical blocks across the Valley.
“However, the NGO’s management members, under a well-planned conspiracy, misused the approval. They collected documents and money from volunteers on the pretext of securing permanent jobs under NHM, and later prepared a fake selection list by forging the Mission Director’s signatures,” CBK said.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Qayoom Naik, son of Abdul Aziz Naik, resident of Check Ferozpora, Tangmarg; Abdul Qayoom Khan, son of Gull Mohammad Khan, resident of Harwan, A/P Ompora, Budgam; Mohammad Ashraf Hurrah, son of Ghulam Nabi Hurrah, resident of Saria Bala, Srinagar; Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, son of Mohammad Sultan Sofi, resident of Shadipora, Sumbal, Bandipora and Hilal Ahmad Bahar, son of Mohammad Sidiq Bahar, resident of Shadipora, Sumbal, Bandipora
“Their acts prima facie disclose commission of offences punishable under Sections 420, 468, 471, 120-B RPC read with Section 66-D of the IT Act. Accordingly, cognizance has been taken and a formal case has been registered,” the statement added.
