Bajrang Dal worker shot dead over social media post; protest erupts

MORADABAD, Sep 30 : A 16-year-old Bajrang Dal worker was shot dead last night in Dehri village of Moradabad district over a social media post, police said today.
The incident has led to heightened tensions in the area, with Bajrang Dal members staging a protest and demanding immediate arrests.
According to police, the victim, Shobhit, a resident of Peetal Basti in Suraj Nagar, was allegedly shot following a dispute over a post on social media platform Instagram. The incident occurred last night.
Circle Officer (Katghar) Varun Kumar stated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the murder. Police have detained a few individuals for questioning, and the situation is currently under control.
Following the incident, angry Bajrang Dal members gathered outside the Katghar police station today, demanding swift action. The protest led to a heated exchange between the protesters and police officials.
To ensure law and order, additional police personnel have been deployed in the area. The victim’s body has been sent for postmortem, and arrangements for the funeral have been made under police supervision to avoid any further unrest.
Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the killing, while local leaders have appealed for peace.
