JAMMU, Sept 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police have cracked a dacoity case in Akhnoor by arresting five accused and recovering a stolen laptop from their possession.
Police said the incident took place on the night of September 17, when driver Pervaiz Ahmed of Reasi was attacked near Maira Mandrian.
His vehicle was intercepted by an e-rickshaw, and five men assaulted him, damaged his load carrier, and fled with a laptop and Rs 53,000 cash, they said.
During investigation, police said, all the five accused were arrested and the e-rickshaw used in the crime was also seized.
Those held have been identified as Atul Sharma and Amit Sharma of Bhardah Khurd, Vishal Singh of Udhampur, Neeraj Sharma of Maira Mandrian, and Rohit Sharma of Mawa Karora.
Police said the accused had conspired in advance to carry out the attack.
Meanwhile, further investigation is in progress, they said.
