POONCH, Sept 28: As part of the police’s ongoing efforts to strengthen relations with the local populace and improve coordination in border areas, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Poonch, Mohan Lal Sharma, today visited several forward villages including Gagrian, Dana, Doba, Uripora and Aartrand.
He was accompanied by DySP Operations Poonch Surinder Singh, SHO Mandi Sham Lal and Incharge Police Post Sawjian PSI Rajat Nanawat.
During the tour, the officers held Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings with locals and urged them to maintain a vigil on suspicious phone calls due to the area’s proximity to the border.
The Additional SP also briefed the gathering about provisions of the newly enacted criminal laws, dangers of drug abuse, and rising threats of cybercrime.
Residents actively participated and raised issues including the poor condition of the Mandi–Sawjian road, shortage of drinking water, demand for sports facilities at Sawjian, and lack of teachers in local schools.
Sharma assured that these concerns would be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal.
