GST implementation mandatory from date of its announcement: CCI

JAMMU, Sept 28: President Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries, (CCI) Arun Kumar Gupta today said that it has been mandatory to implement the new GST reforms by all the shopkeepers from the date of its announcement by Government of India (GoI).
Talking to Excelsior, he said that the GoI wants to give some relief to consumers and it reduced the GST rate from September 22. He however sought the cooperation of companies asking them to take up the issue with their dealers and paste stickers on the packed goods on new rates after GST implementation so that the consumers don’t suffer and also the shopkeepers are not put to problems.
This way he said the confusion created will be also sorted out. Gupta said that the Metrological Department however has not allowed the pasting of stickers on the packed items but the GoI has given a relaxation in this regard for the time being.
He said GoI is in a mood to give some sort of relief to consumers and the companies should come forward in sorting out the issue to remove confusion.
