JAMMU, Sept 26: The Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) here today organized Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2025.
During the event, the medal-winning players of JU were felicitated for their remarkable accomplishments. In addition, coaches, managers and other notable contributors to University sports were also recognized.
Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, was chief guest whereas Rajan Sharma, joint secretary Boxing Federation of India; Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, International Referee and former International Fencer and Romesh Chander Sharma, former Volleyball Coach, were guests of honour while Prof. Komal Nagar, Assistant Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was also present on the dais.
Prof. Rohmetra, in her address emphasized the importance of embracing sportsmanship, teamwork and the spirit of brotherhood that sports instil in every participant.
Prof. Rohmetra also congratulated the entire staff of the Directorate and said that the University will organize annual prize distribution ceremony to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of the University’s sportspersons, who have brought laurels to the University through their dedication and exemplary performances at International, National, Inter-University competitions, Inter-Departmental Student Tournaments and the University Employees Tournament for the academic session 2024-25.
Earlier, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU presented welcome address.
At last, the award ceremony was held in which players of University of Jammu along with Coaches & Managers who won medals for the University in different competitions for the session 2024-25 were felicitated with souvenir Blazer along with University Crest & an award of excellence in the form of memento.
In addition to the above felicitation, the employees and students of various PG Departments of JU who had won medals in Jammu University Employees (M&W) tournaments and Inter-Departmental (M&W) tournaments were also awarded with mementoes.
Proceedings of the function were conducted by Dr. Vimal Kishore, Assistant Professor, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU along with Lakshika Jamwal and Yamnesh Thakur.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mandeep Singh Assistant Professor, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
