Thieves decamp with gold, cash from house in Durga Nagar

JAMMU, Sept 25: Unidentified thieves struck a house in Durga Nagar locality here and decamped with gold, cash and other valuables worth several lakhs.
Police sources said one Shimla Devi of Kishtwar, who is currently residing at Lane Number 14, Sector 1, Durga Nagar, Jammu, reported a theft at her residence after returning home from a family visit on September 22.
They said the theft occurred while the victim was away due to the death of her father-in-law.
“She had left on September 12 after locking her home and returned on September 22 around 5 PM to find the locks broken and belongings scattered,” sources said.
According to them, the stolen items include Rs 1 lakh in cash, around 60 grams of gold jewellery, along with new bed sheets and quilt covers. On the basis of the written application of the owner of the house, police have registered a case FIR number 209/2025 under sections 331(4) and 305 of the BNS registered at Police Station Domana and started further investigation into the matter, police sources said.
