CBC organizes ICOP on Centrally Sponsored Schemes

POONCH, Sept 23: As part of the ongoing nationwide awareness campaigns on Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs), an Integrated Communication Outreach Programme (ICOP) organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Poonch was inaugurated here today.
The programme was inaugurated by Tazim Akhter, Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Poonch, while Ghulam Abbas, Director, CBC J&K, Ladakh presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson DDC Poonch stressed the need for such awareness programmes to be held regularly, particularly in remote and far-flung areas like Surankote, so that the general public can learn about the benefits of Government schemes.
Ghulam Abbas said that the Government of India is committed to the upliftment of the poor and marginalized sections through various welfare-oriented schemes, which have brought transformative change across the nation.
Shahzad Ahmed, CDPO Surankote, highlighted schemes related to the ICDS Department, with a special focus on the Adi Karamyogi Abhiyan initiative for tribal populations.
Dr Shabir from the Rural Development Department and Nusrat Zabin from the Social Welfare Department also shared details of various welfare and assistance schemes of their departments.
The awareness exhibition features display panels on CSS, stalls of different departments, expert seminars, a free health check-up, an open quiz, a selfie corner, cultural programmes and distribution of New India Samachar magazine.
A large number of people, especially youth, participated with enthusiasm.
The open quiz, conducted by Vijay Mattoo of CBC Poonch, engaged the audience with questions on CSS and current affairs.
The cultural programme was presented by artists of M/s Sarswati Sangeet Vidyalay, Poonch, a registered troupe of CBC J&K.
Prof Dr Ashfaq Ahmed Mudhal, HOD Geography, GDC Surankote, proposed the vote of thanks, while the proceedings were conducted by Umar Farooq.
