‘The-Sara’ distributes flood relief

JAMMU, Sept 19: A team of NGO ‘The-Sara’ led by its president, Gurjeet Kour Ghuman and Neetu Kour Bali, entrepreneur & social activist, in collaboration with Indian Army carried out a flood relief distribution programme at Lower Barmeeni, Sunjwan Jammu, here today
The initiative was part of ‘The-Sara’s larger humanitarian effort, Mission TAWI, launched in response to the devastating floods in Jammu region.
During distribution drive, essential hygiene kits and shelter kits were provided to families of Lower Barmeeni, Sarari and Gurah villages which were badly hit by the floods and landslides.
In addition to relief distribution, an awareness lecture was also organized by Indian Army for the locals that focused on health and hygiene practices to prevent waterborne and vector-borne diseases in flood-hit areas, safe water storage and use of hygiene kits to curb infections, precautions and first response measures for snake bites, an increasing threat during floods.
