SRINAGAR, Sept 17: A delegation of the All Jammu Based Reserved Category Employees Association Kashmir (AJBRCEAK) called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar today and raised employees’ issues.
The delegation, led by its Chairman Vipen Kumar, highlighted several key issues, with a strong focus on the immediate notification of a comprehensive transfer policy and the restoration of reservation in promotions.
The meeting provided a platform for the association to articulate the long-pending grievances of a large number of Jammu-based reserved category employees serving in the Kashmir division. The delegation stressed that these demands are not just administrative but are deeply associated with the sentiments of the affected employees, who have long awaited a transparent and compassionate framework for transfers.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Vipen Kumar reminded the Chief Minister of the Government’s prior commitment to these employees for the creation of a definitive transfer policy. He emphasized that the notification of this policy, for which an empowered committee has already been constituted, would provide significant relief and bring an end to years of uncertainty and hardship. The association called for an expedited process to ensure the early redressal of this critical demand.
Beyond the transfer policy, the delegation also ardently pressed for the restoration of reservation in promotions for reserved category employees across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Vipen Kumar reiterated the fundamental principle behind reservation rules, stating that they are meant for the welfare and empowerment of marginalized communities. He urged the Government to honour the popular mandate and take prompt action to implement reservation in promotion, ensuring that the benefits of reservation extend to career advancement.
After giving the delegation a patient hearing, Chief Minister assured them of appropriate action on the demands that were projected. The Chief Minister’s assurance was received positively by the delegation, who expressed hope for swift and effective measures to resolve their long-standing issues.
Those who accompanied the delegation included- Yashpal Bhagat, Shashi Goutam, Naveen Kumar, Deepak Kumar, and Lalit Kumar. The meeting marks a significant step in the ongoing dialogue between the Government and the reserved category employees of the region.
