Two held from Kot Bhalwal jail with 90 gm opium

JAMMU, Sept 16: Two drug peddlers were arrested with around 90 grams of opium from inside the high-security Kot Bhalwal jail here today.
Lakhwinder Singh of Punjab and Gurdev Singh of Haryana were arrested with the consignment concealed in their shoes during routine frisking by the CISF staff deployed inside the Kot Bhalwal jail, a police official said. According to him, the accused had planned to supply the drugs to the prisoners on the pretext of meeting one of them.
He said on the complaint of the jail staff, they were accordingly booked in case FIR number 84/2024 under sections 18 and 29 of the NDPS registered at Police Station Gharota and further investigation taken up.
