DODA, Sept 15: Educational institutions here reopened today after three weeks. These institutions were closed following protests triggered by the detention of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik representing Doda constituency under PSA.

In a press conference today, SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta informed that authorities have also restored the broadband internet services and lifted restrictions under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) from entire of the Doda district barring Kahara and Chilli-Pingal areas.
He said that there are reports that some elements with nefarious designs are present in Kahara and Chilli-Pingal due to which restrictions have not been removed from there.
“Police is present in good number in these areas to prevent any untoward incident,” the SSP maintained adding: “Under section 163 BNSS the authorities have issued advisory the public to avoid provocative and disturbing posts on social media and violations in this regard may invite action under the law.”
He appealed to the social media users to not to be a part of some conspiracy and let the peaceful atmosphere prevail in the region.
The SSP also said that mobile internet will start as the situation improves.
Replying to a query he said that in this entire episode some 81 people were detained of which 70 have been released and the remaining 11 have been detained for questioning and they will also be released soon.
On death of a child during protests he said that a committee is formed to probe the case and a senior officer is leading the committee.
“AAP has formed its legal team to challenge the PSA detention of Malik, so let the law take its own course,” Mehta said appealing the social media users, particularly the youth to stay away from any conspiracy by mischievous elements else strict action awaits as per the law.
