JAMMU, Sept 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed they have booked a hardcore criminal from the Arnia area under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) for his repeated involvement in serious criminal activities.
A police official said the accused, identified as Arjun Kumar alias Billu of Kalyana, Arnia, had been associated with criminal gangs and was involved in multiple violent offences.
Despite several arrests and legal actions, he said, the accused continued his unlawful activities, posing a threat to peace and security.
“His detention under PSA was necessary after routine legal measures to curb his conduct,” the police official said.
“Multiple FIRs have been registered against the accused over the years. On Saturday, the PSA warrant issued by the District Magistrate Jammu was executed, and the accused was lodged in District Jail Udhampur,” he said.
Pertinently, the arrest was made by a team of Police Station Arnia led by SHO concerned, Inspector Dilawar Kumar, under the supervision of SDPO R S Pura, and close supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu.
