DODA, Sept 12: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh today conducted an extensive visit to Kandhote, Premnagar, Thathri, and adjoining areas to review the availability of essential commodities and assess road connectivity. The DC also ensured the smooth movement of standard vehicles on the Kishtwar Highway, which is a crucial lifeline for trade, healthcare, and passenger movement in the district.
The visit was aimed at maintaining uninterrupted supply of daily necessities and ensuring the smooth movement of people during the prevailing situation. The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda, Anil Kumar Thakur, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Thathri, Sheetal Sharma, and other concerned officials.
The team inspected key locations, interacted with local residents, and reviewed the functioning of supply chains to make sure that ration, medicines, LPG, and other essential commodities remain readily available to the public.
During the visit, DC emphasized the importance of timely coordination between civil and field-level officers for maintaining adequate stocks and ensuring efficient distribution of essential commodities. He directed the concerned authorities to resolve road connectivity bottlenecks on a priority basis to facilitate emergency services, patient referrals, and transport of essential goods. He further instructed officers to remain vigilant, proactive, and approachable in addressing the grievances of the people, especially those living in far-flung and hilly areas.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed that road safety measures and quick clearance of landslides or blockades must be ensured to avoid disruptions. He encouraged the local administration to strengthen communication with Panchayati Raj Institutions and community representatives to build confidence among the public.
Meanwhile, DC paid visit to the Town Market during the relaxation hours after the prevailing situation in the district. The visit aimed to assess the availability of essential commodities, check the smooth functioning of trade activities, and interact with the public regarding their grievances.
During the inspection, the DC closely reviewed all key parameters including the supply of food grains, vegetables, dairy products, and medicines. He also interacted with shopkeepers and local residents to take firsthand feedback on the prevailing situation and urged for peace and harmony during the prevailing situation.
