JAMMU, Sept 10: Movement Kalki highlighted the alarming rise in atrocities against women and negligence of the Police in dealing with the same.
In a press conference here today Advocate Uma Kapahi and Advocate Sumeshwar Kohli expressed serious concern over the continuous increase in crimes against women and the law enforcement agencies failing to provide justice to the victims and in some cases harassing them further.
They quoted cases from different parts of the country to state that crime against women has increased alarmingly and the Police has failed to successfully deal with such cases.
Advocate Uma Kapahi pointed out that despite the existence of Domestic Violence Act, enforcement agencies are failing to implement it effectively and the women continue to suffer harassment, cruelty and violence even after approaching cops and courts.
Movement Kalki leaders stated that despite stringent laws and severe punishments being prescribed, such heinous crimes are increasing at an alarming pace.
“It is imperative that society collectively raises voice against these acts and strict accountability is enforced on the cops and the investigating agencies,” Advocate Sumeshwar Kohli said.
