SRINAGAR, Sept 10: National Conference president and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today said the Lieutenant Governor (LG) would be responsible if anything untoward happens in Doda.
Speaking to reporters at north Kashmir’s Pattan, Abdullah said the police come under the LG, and it would be “all up to him.”
“It is up to the LG. The police system comes under his purview; he is responsible for that. Whatever happens in Doda, he will be held responsible for that,” Abdullah said.
He was responding to a question related to the situation in Doda following the arrest of MLA Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
On the demand for a special session of the Assembly, he added: “The Speaker has to see to it and decide.”
