Jammu, Sept 8: Mission Shakti District Hub for Empowerment of women , Social Welfare Department organized an awareness workshop on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal ) Act at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar.
The session was attended by both teaching and non-teaching staff members of the institution. Advocate Meenu Padha, elaborated on the key provisions of the POSH Act, workplace rights, and the mechanisms available to ensure a safe and dignified environment for women. She highlighted practical measures for staff to follow and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in building a harassment-free workspace.
The District Mission Coordinator Mission Shakti Shagun Manchanda sensitized participants about various women-centric schemes being implemented for the welfare of women , encouraging staff members to spread awareness of these benefits in the community & mandatory formation of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) in institutions, as required under the Act.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered to the school administration whose support made the workshop a success.
The initiative reflected Mission Shakti’s continuous efforts to empower women and create safer, more inclusive institutions.
