JAMMU, Sept 8: With the security forces busy hitting the terror ecosystem which has been dented to quite an extent, another ecosystem is fast emerging in the Valley and it enjoys the full support of the Valley based political parties asserted Brig Anil Gupta, a veteran security and strategic analyst.
Referring to the latest incident at the Hazratbal shrine wherein the National Emblem was vandalized by anti national elements with police nowhere in sight and all Valley based political parties supporting the vandalism rather than condemning it Brig Gupta warned that coming events cast their shadows before suggesting rise of anti-national forces in the Valley.
He suggested that this trend needs to be nipped in the bud by taking strictest possible action against the offenders, instigators and their backers.
This newly emerging ecosystem enjoys support across the political spectrum and of the fundamentalists who see this as an opportunity show their strength to the Centre. The ecosystem was quick to come out with a narrative, which always has been their fort, to shift the entire blame on the Chairperson of the Waqf Board by bringing in faith thus converting a simple law and order issue into a complex communal issue. “Unfortunately, the Congress also supported this narrative strengthening my apprehension of a bigger picture to encourage anti-nationalism taking cover of religion as a rallying point to unite the people in the Valley to challenge the authority of the Centre,” stated Brig Gupta.
The Emblem is not an idol, statue or image for worship and hence the logic of hurting the faith of the people does not hold water, the claim is hollow and an afterthought. Using stones to vandalise the National Emblem was well planned and symbolic as well reminiscence of the days of stone pelting. If the NC Government was unhappy with the inauguration stone carrying the National Emblem apprehending resentment, it should simply have had a dialogue with the Chairperson of the Waqf Board and not allowed the situation to precipitate. The intention was not to diffuse the situation but to seize it as an opportunity to display their strength, an opportunity they have been looking for since long to dispel the impression of a lame duck Government lamented Brig Gupta.
