Bovine smuggling bid foiled in Nowshera

RAJOURI, Sept 7: Nowshera Police foiled an attempt to smuggle bovine animals and rescued five cattle during routine patrolling in the Bareri area.
Acting on the directions of SDPO Nowshera Sahil Mahajan, a special naka was laid near Bareri Chowk under the supervision of SHO Nowshera Inspector Arjun Magotra. During checking, a Mahindra Bolero (registration number JK11A-2475) coming from Bareri towards Nowshera was signaled to stop. The driver tried to flee but was swiftly intercepted by the alert police party.
On questioning, the driver was identified as Yasir Hussain, son of Mohd Shreef, resident of Ninganaar Rajouri. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of five bovine animals, which were being transported illegally without valid permission.
The animals were rescued, the vehicle seized, and the accused taken into custody. In this regard, FIR Number 120/2025 under Sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Nowshera. Further investigation is underway.
