Army, NGO join hands to construct foot-bridge for flood victims

BHADERWAH, Sept 5: Residents of Bheja village in Bhaderwah, who were cut off from the town since last 10 days after the cloudburst hit their hamlet triggering massive flash floods due to which entire lower Bheja came under debris, today heaved a sigh of relief after 4 Rashtriya Rifles in collaboration with NGO Youth Action Committee started construction of a foot bridge over Mush-Dev Nallah.
Army said, “After witnessing the plight of villagers, especially elderly and females risking their life to cross Mush-Dev Nullah either on thin wooden log or in the bucket of JCB, we started construction of the bridge and completed it in next 24 hours.”
Lower Bheja was worst hit after the cloudburst hit the village turning it into debris.
At least 20 families were left roofless while the entire area remained cut-off since then due to flood like situation in Mush-Dev Nullah and the mini-bridge over the stream was washed away.
About 30 Jawans of Army and volunteers of Youth Action Committee besides machinery was deployed to complete construction of the bridge within 24 hours.
