RAMBAN, Sept 3: On the directions of SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta, Police here today booked a notorious drug peddler under preventive detention as per the provisions of Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.
As per Police, the drug peddler Yasir Ahmed, alias Bhurha, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, resident of Kowbagh, Tehsil and District Ramban was repeatedly involved in the sale and distribution of contraband substances in Ramban and its adjoining areas posing a significant threat to the safety and well-being of the local population particularly the youth.
Acting on the directions of SSP Ramban, a detailed dossier was prepared and submitted to the competent authority.
After obtaining the necessary sanctions, Yasir Ahmed was detained under PIT NDPS Act and lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.
