CHANDIGARH, Sep 3: A Rs 1.5 crore mansion in Ghonewal village near the India-Pakistan border was reduced to rubble by the raging waters of the Ravi River, leaving a family s nine-year dream in ruins.
Ajay Pal Singh, a resident of Ghonewal village in Amritsar, shared the heartbreaking story of how floods destroyed his family s lavish home, built over nine years of hard work. Construction began in 2014 and was nearing completion when the deluge wiped out their efforts. The family was preparing for a wedding, with celebrations in full swing, when disaster struck.
The floods not only claimed their home but also shattered their hopes. Ajay Pal recounted how the lintel collapsed despite efforts to save the structure, leaving the family with nothing but debris. He warned against fraudsters using fake IDs to collect funds in their name, urging people to contact them directly to avoid scams.
Emotionally, Ajay Pal shared that years of savings were lost in moments. With no faith in government or administrative support, he placed his hopes in divine intervention from Guru Ramdas Ji.
The family plans to relocate to a rented house and start anew. Any aid received, Ajay Pal said, would be used to serve langar and help the poor, rather than for personal gain. The flood took everything in a moment. We called engineers, but the house couldn t be saved. Now, we rely only on Guru Ramdas Ji s blessings, said Ajay, flood victim.
