Kabra visits flood-affected areas to assess damage

Jammu, Sept 2: The Additional Chief Secretary Shaleen Kabra today visited the flood-affected areas of district Jammu to assess the extent of damage caused to irrigation infrastructure and public property following the recent floods.
The Additional Chief Secretary was accompanied by the Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) Jammu Er.Manoj Gupta, along with senior officials of the department. The team jointly inspected the areas of Greater Kailash , 4th Tawi Bridge, D-9 of Main Ranbir Canal, affected portion of Main Ranbir Canal near Bhagwati Nagar and Garkhal to access damaged embankments, irrigation channels, and other vital infrastructure, while also reviewing the situation of affected communities.
During the visit, the ACS interacted with local residents, assuring them of the Government’s commitment to provide timely relief and rehabilitation support. He directed the concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive damage assessment report and emphasized the urgent restoration of irrigation systems to safeguard agriculture and protect people from further risks.
The ACS reiterated that the Government is mobilizing all available resources to ensure swift relief, rehabilitation, and long-term resilience measures in the flood-affected areas.
