Three held for stealing animals in Akhnoor

JAMMU, Aug 30: With the arrest of three individuals, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Akhnoor area today claimed they have busted a gang involved in stealing cattle from the area.
A police official said on August 25, 2025, one Sheetal Verma son of Gandheru of Tanda of Akhnoor lodged a complaint at Police Station Akhnoor, stating therein that on the intervening night of August 24-25, some unknown thieves stole bovine animals from near his residence at Tanda, Akhnoor.
Acting on the complaint, he said, a case FIR Number 153/2025 under Section 303(2) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation entrusted to PSI Arif Dar.
During the course of investigation, the police official said, three persons identified as Nayar Ali of Raguda, Jammu, Manzoor Mohammad and Mohammad Salim, both residents of Belicharana, were detained for questioning.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to their involvement in the theft and on the basis of their disclosure, the stolen animals were recovered from their possession, the police official added.
He said further investigation into the case is underway.
