REASI, Aug 28: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik conducted an extensive tour of rain and landslide-affected areas today to assess damages and oversee relief measures.
Accompanied by officers from line departments, the DC inspected the water supply lines damaged by a landslide at Sulla Road near IRP Chowk. She directed the Jal Shakti Department to immediately repair all damaged pipelines and ensure uninterrupted water supply to the public.
The DC then reviewed the restoration work on the PMGSY Kheral–Jeri Road, where a landslide had disrupted connectivity. She instructed the XEN PWD to use JCB machines to create motorable passages to avoid traffic congestion.
While listening to public grievances regarding the washing away of Gupta Ganga Road at Kasi Parta due to flash floods, the DC directed the XEN PWD to construct a temporary crate wall and other immediate measures for restoring connectivity and to explore possibilities for an alternate road until permanent repairs are completed.
Continuing the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected damaged and sinking spots on the Reasi–Katra Road near Dera Baba Road. She directed officials to ensure road safety by placing gunny bags and drums near the damaged portions to prevent mishaps and emphasized the use of quality material in repair works for durability.
She also inspected the PWD quarters in Reasi, where sinking land has posed a threat to the structures. She directed the XEN to work out a solution to ensure safety.
The DC further directed the PDD department to ensure timely repair of damaged electricity lines and provide adequate power supply for public convenience.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a review meeting attended by SDMs, XENs of PWD, PMGSY, JJM, besides officers of other concerned departments.
During the meeting, SDMs briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the ground situation in their respective jurisdictions, informing that several roads were blocked due to landslides. Machinery has already been deployed to expedite clearance works.
The DC directed SDMs to ensure that damaged roads are restored at the earliest and alternate routes are made available to maintain uninterrupted connectivity.
The meeting was attended by ADC Rakesh Kumar, ACR Nitin Verma, Tehsildar Reasi, XENs of PWD and PMGSY, among other officers. SDMs from various subdivisions joined virtually.
