POONCH, Aug 28: In a significant breakthrough, District Police Poonch has solved a sensational blind murder case of a woman within 48 hours, arresting the main accused and recovering the weapon of offence.
In the case, husband of the deceased woman has turned out to be the killer.
On August 25, 2025, Police Station Loran received a missing report regarding Hajra Bi, wife of Abdul Ghani, resident of Chikriban, who had gone to graze goats but did not return home. At the spot, a goat was also found dead under suspicious circumstances, prompting immediate police action.
During an extensive search operation, the body of the missing lady was recovered from a natural cave near the grazing site, where it had been deliberately concealed under materials. Prima facie, it appeared to be a case of murder, and FIR No. 18/2025 U/S 103 BNS was registered at PS Loran.
To unearth the murder mystery, ASP Poonch, Mohan Sharma constituted a special team headed by SHO Loren Naveet Anjum. With relentless investigation supported by technical and human intelligence, the special team identified and arrested husband of the deceased, Abdul Ghani, son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Chikriban, as the prime accused.
During sustained interrogation, he confessed the commission of crime and narrated the modus operandi also. In an attempt to mislead investigators, he also killed his own goat at the spot, hoping to create an impression of a wild bear attack.
On his disclosure, the weapons of offence was recovered. The accused is presently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
