JAMMU, Aug 28: Member of Parliament, Gulam Ali Khatana, has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on self-reliance and the ‘vocal for local’ campaign in the recent Union Cabinet meeting, as a decisive step towards strengthening the economy and empowering citizens across all sections of society.
Khatana said the Prime Minister’s call to promote Made in India products would give a major push to domestic manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports, thereby preparing the country to face global challenges with greater confidence.
He pointed out that the directive to expand the reach of schemes such as PM SVANidhi, which provides subsidized loans to street vendors, will directly benefit weaker sections. According to him, such initiatives ensure that growth and opportunities reach the poorest citizens, making development more inclusive.
Khatana further noted that the Prime Minister’s stress on taking Government programmes beyond Delhi to towns and villages will make welfare measures more effective on the ground. This, he said, will help citizens understand and access Government initiatives more easily.
Underscoring the long-term benefits, Khatana said the focus on self-reliance, promotion of Indian products and expansion of welfare measures would not only strengthen the economy but also build a strong and self-sufficient India.
