SRINAGAR, Aug 27: Floods in South Kashmir have submerged the district Court complex in Anantnag, halting regular court functions.
Despite the grim situation, Principal District and Session Judge, Tahir Khursheed Raina, today reached the district court premises by boat.
He, along with Chief Judicial Magistrate Feroz Ahmed Khan, visited the court building to check the condition of the premises and judicial records. The court complex, including courtrooms and record rooms, was under water due to continuous rainfall and flooding.
Raina directed police to handle remand cases and bail matters without delay. He said that even during natural disasters, access to justice must continue.
Court staff have confirmed that regular proceedings remain suspended. However, steps are being taken to protect court records and manage urgent matters.
