JAMMU, Aug 22: BJP National Secretary and MLA from RS Pura-Jammu South, Dr Narinder Singh, has expressed grave concern over the acute shortage of subject experts at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS), RS Pura, warning that the future of hundreds of girl students is at stake.
Dr Singh said the school has been functioning without seven subject lecturers for the past one and a half years, severely impacting classes 11th and 12th. Vacancies include English, Political Science, History, Mathematics, Commerce and Botany, while the post for Sociology remains unattended due to medical leave. “This shortage has led to repeated loss of precious study hours, jeopardizing board preparations and competitive exam prospects of the students,” he said.
Slamming the Education Department for “criminal negligence,” Dr Singh asked, “Where shall these students go? Are their aspirations and careers to be sacrificed because of administrative apathy?” He said depriving young girls of their right to education for 18 months was unacceptable.
Taking aim at Education Minister Sakina Itoo, Dr Singh said it was “ironic and shameful” that despite being a woman herself, she had failed to safeguard the interests of female students. He further accused the Government of undermining the Union Government’s flagship programme, “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, collapsing right under her nose.
Questioning the seriousness of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government in maintaining educational standards, the BJP leader said the CM must clarify whether improving education is even on his agenda. “The message being sent is that education of young girls does not matter to this government,” he added.
Calling for urgent intervention, Dr Singh demanded immediate filling of all vacant lecturer posts at the RS Pura Girls Higher Secondary School. He urged the Education Department to act responsibly, cautioning that “every lost academic hour is a step backwards in the future of the students.”
