LEH, Aug 21: A high-level delegation from Matho Gonpa and Matho village, led by Chakzot Ven. Lama Jamyang Skarma, today called upon the 14th Dalai Lama to extend a heartfelt invitation to grace the Ladakh Yarchos Chenmo 2026 as the chief guest.
The grand religious event is scheduled to be held at Matho Sakya Monastery in the summer of 2026.
It may be recalled that in 2023, Matho representatives had prayerfully requested Dalai Lama to attend the Ladakh Yarchos Chenmo 2025, following the Zanskar Yarchos Chenmo 2024.
However, owing to Dalai Lama’s unavailability for a Ladakh visit in 2024, the schedule was revised-Zanskar Yarchos Chenmo was shifted to 2025 and Matho Yarchos Chenmo to 2026.
Subsequently, a joint delegation from Matho and Zanskar visited Dalai Lama in Dharamshala last winter to seek his blessings for the revised plan.
Following the successful conclusion of the Zanskar Yarchos Chenmo 2025 in Karsha, the Sakya tradition followers in Ladakh have once again appealed to Dalai Lama to kindly accept the invitation to attend and bless the upcoming Ladakh Yarchos Chenmo 2026 in Matho.
Among others who were a part of the delegation included Khenpo Ishey Tsering of Matho Gonpa, Gyapo Namgyal Angchuk of Matho Khar, former MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Executive Councillor (LAHDC Leh) Stanzin Chosphel, Tsering Angdus (Nambardar, Matho village), Tsering Dolma (president, Matho Ama Tsogspa), Ishey Tsering (president, Chitsog Phandey Society), Tsering Tashi (president, Ex-Servicemen Society) and Tamchos Togochey (president, Youth Society of Matho).
