During the drive, encroachers tried to obstruct the teams from performing their duties, but security forces ensured the law and order was maintained.
Some encroachers even attempted scuffles with the officials but were taken into preventive custody to avoid escalation.
A JDA official said the anti-encroachment drive under the leadership of VC Rupesh Kumar with active supervision of Director Land Management Garbi Rashid and proper support of the district administration and police was conducted after issuing notices to the land grabbers.
“Since they failed to vacate the encroached land, our teams removed 20 permanent and semi-permanent illegal structures at the sites,” the official said.
According to him, the demolished structures included newly constructed buildings and boundary walls raised without permission on JDA land.
The official added that the areas had witnessed a spurt in illegal encroachments, which prompted decisive action.
He further informed that approximately 110 Kanals of land retrieved during the operation has now been brought back under official possession.
“To prevent fresh encroachments, the reclaimed land is being secured with fencing and warning signboards,” he said.
The demolition was executed in a coordinated manner with the backing of the District administration, ensuring smooth completion across multiple locations.
Meanwhile, reiterating its zero-tolerance policy, the JDA warned that strict legal action would be taken against violators.
“The public is advised to avoid unauthorized construction or occupation of Government land,” it cautioned.
