JAMMU, Aug 18: Stray dogs menace has gripped Jammu University Campus scaring students, employees and the morning walkers.
Even as various areas of Jammu city are struggling with a significant stray dog population and reported cases of dog bites, this is apparently for the first time that the menace has gripped Jammu University campus also.
Despite being a gated campus and the JU security officials deployed round the clock, stray dogs can be seen roaming here and there in the university premises scaring the students as well as visitors.
According to the students and morning walkers, the matter was variously brought into the notice of the university authorities but little was done in this regard.
Pertinent to mention that around 20 cases of dog bites are reported daily in Jammu city even as the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has resorted to sterilizing stray dogs as part of its animal birth control program.
Seeking immediate action to address the menace, Jammu University students and morning walkers have appealed the JU authorities and JMC to ensure that the campus remains safe from stray dogs for avoiding any untoward incident of dog bites.
