JAMMU, Aug 16: MLA Bahu, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, today started the lane and drain construction work in Ward No. 3 and 4 of Jammu Cantonment Board.
The work was formally started in the presence of Bharat Bhushan (Member, Cantonment Board Jammu) along with prominent local dignitaries including Narendra Gupta Koki, Jasmeet Pandey, Pardeep Kour, Avtar Singh, Sanjeev Gupta, Ashu Panch, Harpal Singh, Rinku Gupta, Gurdeep Pandey, M.P. Singh, Surinder Chib and Kuldeep Pinta.
Speaking on the occasion, Ch Vikram Randhawa said that the construction of new lanes and drains will not only ease the movement of people but will also contribute towards maintaining Swachhta (cleanliness) in the area. He added that the development works are being carried out in line with the vision of “Swachh Bharat – Swasth Bharat”, as cleanliness is directly linked to good health and a better quality of life.
He further emphasized that these steps are part of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to ensure a cleaner and healthier India.
Randhawa said that his priority is to provide better sanitation, proper drainage, improved infrastructure and clean surroundings for every household in the Cantonment area.
MLA assured the residents that many more developmental works will be initiated in the coming days in different wards of the Cantonment Board, including upgrading lanes, drains, and other civic amenities, to transform the entire area into a model of planned and sustainable development.
Local residents appreciated the initiative of the MLA and expressed gratitude for addressing their long-pending demand, stating that such projects reflect a true commitment towards the people’s welfare.
