JAMMU, Aug 14: University of Jammu (JU) commemorated ‘Akhand Bharat Sankalp Diwas’ at Dhanvantari Library premises, reaffirming the ideals of unity, integrity and nation-building.
Presiding over the event, Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean of Research Studies, reflected on the historical factors that led to the disintegration of the erstwhile Bharat Rashtra. She urged participants to draw lessons from history, remarking, “Learning from our past is essential. The steps we take today should lead us toward realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat.”
Prof Virender Koundal, Director, Department of Strategic and Research Studies, highlighted the significance of India’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage. “Our inherited values must be preserved, nurtured, and passed on to the next generation,” he emphasized.
Sharing his perspective, Dr Vikram Sahi, Librarian, Central University of Jammu, drew parallels between India’s glorious past and its present aspirations. He stressed the importance of historical awareness in shaping a vibrant, progressive, and unified future.
The programme was organized by Yuva Bharat, a student- and scholar-led initiative, with Jarnish Bandral from the Department of Law managing the proceedings.
The ceremony concluded with all participants taking a solemn Sankalp (pledge) to contribute towards strengthening the nation’s unity, integrity and greatness.
