Police busts heroin supply chain, 1 held

UDHAMPUR, Aug 13: In a major success against narco-smuggling, the police today arrested a drug- peddler who was using hi-tech methods to conduct illegal trade in Udhampur area.
During routine traffic checking at Jakheni Naka, a police team from Udhampur intercepted one person, identified as Arif Hussain, son of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Marmat, Doda. On frisking, 22.13 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was operating the entire narcotics supply system by getting payments transferred directly into his bank account and sharing precise delivery locations for the contraband, thereby conducting transactions online in an attempt to evade conventional tracking methods.
In this regard, FIR No. 297/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is underway to unearth the entire network.
