JAMMU, Aug 9: Chinese kite thread, commonly known as ‘Gattu Dor’ today claimed another life as a young motorcyclist died in Rehambal area of Udhampur when his throat got slit due to this deadly thread.

According to the police report, the deceased was identified as 25-year old Rajinder Kumar, son of Subash Chander, resident of Seen Brahmna area. He was riding a motorcycle when Chinese kite thread hit his neck and slit the throat.
Some locals immediately rushed the victim to District Hospital Udhampur but the Doctor declared him as brought dead. Rehambal Police have registered a case in this connection and started further investigation.
In the recent days, this was the second case of death due to the Chinese thread, which has left several injured, some of them critically.
Pertinent to mention that the administration has banned sale and purchase of ‘Gattu Dor’ but some unscrupulous elements are still using it in kite flying and thus endangering lives of others, particularly two-wheeler raiders.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old individual sustained injuries after his throat was slit by “Gattu” or “Chinese Manja”, at Dablehar area here today.
Sandeep Kumar son of Tilak Raj of Biaspur, was riding a bike when a nylon thread entangled around his neck near Dablehar area, resulting in injuries to the biker, a police official said.
He was immediately rushed to Sub-District Hospital RS Pura, where he is receiving treatment, he said.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the matter and started further investigation into the matter.
