Police foils 2 bovine smuggling attempts, rescues 37 animals

SAMBA, Aug 9: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba police has foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba, arrested one bovine smuggler and rescued 37 bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers, police said.
Police said the vehicles used in the illegal transportation of bovines were also seized.
Police said acting on reliable information, a team of PS Samba intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. PB03BE-4932 at Maheshwar, Samba for its checking. During checking, 20 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
The bovine smuggler identified as Kala, son of Faizal Din of Sujanpur (Pathankot) has been arrested and the vehicle has also been seized.
A case FIR No. 211/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station (PS) Samba and investigation started, police said.
It said in another bovine smuggling incident, a police team of PS Samba intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. PB35Z-1286 at Diani, Samba for its checking. During checking, 17 bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally. All the bovines have been rescued and the vehicle has also been seized.
A case FIR No.212/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started, police said.
The operations were conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Virinder Manhas.
