CU Jammu hosts week-long ‘Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect’ programme

JAMMU, Aug 7: A week-long Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme (VBYCP) is underway at Central University of Jammu, from August 4 to 8, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The programme began with the Viksit Bharat Pledge administered by Registrar Prof Yashwant Singh, followed by a Tiranga Rally flagged off by Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain.
The event was attended by university officials, faculty, staff, and students.
During the programme, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of youth in building a self-reliant India and urged them to promote indigenous innovations under the “Make in India” initiative.
He also cautioned against challenges like digital addiction.
Director Prof Vandana Sharma emphasised that the programme aims to build leadership, civic responsibility, and awareness among youth.
A series of events have been lined up including wall painting, slogan writing, cycle rally titled ‘Paddle for Viksit Bharat’, Yuva Samvad, and Nukkad Natak as part of Viksit Bharat @2047 and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaigns.
Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, CU Jammu also participated in painting and slogan activities.
On August 6, the cycle rally was flagged off by the Registrar and Director, followed by a Yuva Samvad on ‘Drug Addiction: An Overview’ at the university auditorium.
Keynote speaker Dr Manu Arora, Professor and HoD, Psychiatry, GMC Jammu, shared concerns over rising drug abuse in India and J&K, and its impact on national security.
The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from students.
On August 7, students performed a Nukkad Natak on drug-free India, led by Dr Anju Thapa, to spread awareness about substance abuse. The event continues till August 8 with more youth-centric awareness activities.
