JAMMU, Aug 6: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu today paid rich tribute to the Indian Army’s bravery during Operation Sindoor by hosting an interactive session with Brigadier Aniket Deo, a decorated Army officer who shared a detailed account of the operation with faculty, staff, and students.
During his address, Brigadier Deo spoke about the strategic challenges and the courage shown by Indian soldiers during the mission. The audience listened with deep respect as he highlighted the ground realities and sacrifices made by troops.
Following the session, AIIMS Jammu Executive Director and CEO Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta felicitated Brigadier Deo and praised the Indian Army for its selfless service.
He said AIIMS Jammu stood in solidarity with the Army and supported national efforts with strength and commitment.
As part of its emergency response during the operation, he said, AIIMS Jammu increased its bed capacity from 250 to 400, reserving 150 beds for operational casualties.
According to him, elective surgeries were temporarily halted, while six operation theatres functioned round the clock to handle trauma cases.
Special training sessions in BHISHM Cube deployment and emergency care were also organised for medical staff from GMC Jammu, district hospitals, and Community Health Centres, strengthening coordination among healthcare providers.
In a gesture of solidarity, nursing officers of AIIMS Jammu contributed Rs 1, 21, 000, which was handed over to the Chairperson of the Army Welfare Organisation by Dr Rimple Sharma, Principal, College of Nursing.
The event reflected AIIMS Jammu’s dedication to national service and its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces through healthcare readiness and patriotic initiatives.
