JAMMU, Aug 4: The residents of Ajit Colony, Extension (South) here today held a meeting under the chairmanship of their president, Harbans Singh to review the progress regarding construction of drainage system in the locality which has remained deprived of this basic facility for the last 10 years though they remain raising the issue before different authorities including PMO Grievances Cell.
The residents claimed that DPRs for the drainage system were prepared but funds were not released as approval was not granted.
They unanimously decided to approach the Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation to highlight the issue.
The residents claimed that they were the worst sufferers due to water logging during rains and they have been pursuing the issue for a decade.
They said that the water channel draining rainwater of the entire South Extension has been blocked due to new constructions hence urgency of construction of deep drains is there.
The residents requested to the authorities concerned to depute the teams to revisit the area and solve the problem.
The meeting was attended by C.L Sharma, secretary; Vikas Sharma, publicity secretary; D.K Raina, cashier; Amrik Singh, vice president; Gurdeep Singh, Puran Chand, Ajay, Vijay, Ram Lal, B.N Joshi, Raj Nath Koul, Daleep Raina and Arun Jandial.
