JAMMU, Aug 4: Police have cracked a daylight robbery case reported by a local resident, Ajay Kumar of Tange Wali Gali. The incident had sparked concern after the complainant alleged that he was robbed and assaulted by a group of unidentified men in broad daylight.
According to officials, the robbery occurred on July 26 when Ajay Kumar was en route to Narwal Mandi on his scooty. Around 3:25 PM, he was allegedly trailed from Gujjar Nagar to Qasim Nagar by 5–6 individuals on a motorcycle and a scooty. The group intercepted him opposite the Forest Office, where they reportedly assaulted him with sharp-edged weapons and snatched Rs 30,000 in cash.
Following the incident, Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu immediately called the complainant for verification and lodged FIR Number 43/2025 under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
Utilizing CCTV footage and inputs from local sources, the police identified six accused in the case. Four of them — Abhi Sharma of Shahabad Colony, Musavir of Jogi Gate, Adil of Shaheedi Chowk and Jagjot Singh alias Karan of Greater Colony, Trikuta Nagar — have been arrested. Two others, who are juveniles, have also been identified and are being dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act.
The police have recovered Rs 12,000 of the robbed amount, sharp-edged weapons used in the assault, and the two vehicles used during the crime.
The investigation, supervised by SP South, SDPO East and SHO Bagh-e-Bahu, is ongoing to ensure all culprits are brought to justice.
