JAMMU, Aug 4: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) today called on Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal in New Delhi.
As per the official communique issued, the office bearers of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu led by its President K. Nirmal Kotwal, comprising Vice President Baldev Singh, General Secretary Pardeep Majotra, Joint Secretary Anshu Mahajan, and Treasurer Rahul Aggarwal held a constructive meeting with Meghwal.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh was also present during the meeting.
The members discussed the issue of restoring the powers of judicial officers to registrar documents, Government sponsored group insurance scheme for advocates, stipend to young lawyers, pension scheme for retiring advocates and setting up of a lawyers colony at Jammu.
They also emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for advocates to uphold the rule of law and efficiently serve the people.
Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal gave a patient hearing to the association and expressed his commitment to addressing the issues raised.
He assured the Association of the Government of India’s support in facilitating necessary reforms and initiatives aimed at improving the working conditions of advocates and strengthening the justice delivery framework in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Union Minister also highlighted the importance of the legal fraternity in safeguarding democratic values and pledged to work collaboratively with the Bar Association towards shared goals.
The BAJ president thanked Arjun Meghwal and assured continuous coordination for constructive dialogue and implementation of beneficial measures for the legal community.
This meeting marked a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to voice the concerns of advocates and seek proactive solutions from the highest levels of the Union Government.
The Association reiterated its commitment to the welfare, rights, and professional dignity of all its members.
