JAMMU, Aug 3: The Jagti township inmates have expressed their grave resentment over the prevailing water scarcity in the township and urged the authorities to take immediate steps in restoring and ensuring daily water supply to the area.
In a statement Sunil Pandita president Jagti Migrants Welfare Committee said that despite repeated pleas to the authorities concerned no steps are being taken to solve the problem. He said earlier it was decided to hand over the water supply to Jal Shakti Department but the scenario has still not changed as the Jagti inmates face problem continuously especially in Monsoon and rainy season of Winter.
Pandita demanded immediate construction of bore wells in the colony which has been a long pending demand of the Jagti inmates. He said that water crisis in the township will only be solved after construction of bore wells as present scheme of lifting water from river Tawi has proved a total failure.
Pandita in an appeal to Minister Jal Shakti sought his immediate intervention in the matter saying the inmates of Jagti are facing many hardships in this humid summer due to water crisis.
