JAMMU, Aug 3: Ahead of its proposed protest dharna and black day on August 5, the 6th anniversary of the downgrading of the state into UT, Congress today intensified its outreach campaign across J&K holding series of meetings in different districts to give momentum to its statehood movement- ‘Hamari Riyasat, Hamara Haq’.
As a part of outreach campaign ” Chorahe – Pe- Charcha” JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla, former ministers- Mula Ram, Yogesh Sawhney, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, I/C DCC Rural Th Hari Singh Chib, DDC T S Tony & other senior leaders held an impressive meeeting at Ploura Jammu at attended by large number of men and women from cross section of society.
Addressing the gathering Raman Bhalla said that restoration of statehood is the basic right of people of J&K which was promised by Modi Government on multiple occasions in past six years for securing votes from Jammu region but didn’t fulfill it so far. He said August 5 is the anniversary of downgrading of historical Dogra state and its a black day for all of us but BJP celebrates it every year ,which is an insult to Dogra rulers who expanded the boundaries of the then dogra state to Gilgit Baltistan by their blood .
He asked people to question BJP for its anti-Dogra celebrations on August 5 every year and join the black day against downgrading of the Dogra state and to seek restoration of statehood as per SC directions. He said that Congress will fight for restoration of statehood, till it is achieved and sought the support of all sections rising above political considerations.
Mula Ram, Yogesh Sawhey echoed the same sentiments and charged BJP of ruling J&K by proxy, despite loosing mandate and an elected government ten months taking over of the affairs of UT over nine months back.
Ravinder Sharma, Hari Singh Chib, T S Tony, Satish Sharma and several others spoke on the occasion.
