JAMMU, Aug 2: A Special Lok Adalat held at the District Court Complex in Janipur area here today led to the amicable settlement of 156 cases and recovery of Rs 3.5 crore.
The Lok Adalat, focused on bank recovery, MACT, and matrimonial matters, was conducted under the chairmanship of YP Bourney, Principal District & Sessions Judge Jammu, and supervision of Smriti Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu.
Organised as per directions of the J&K Legal Services Authority, the Adalat aimed to resolve long-pending disputes.
A press statement said that twenty-three benches were set up across courts, and 328 cases were taken up in total during the Lok Adalat.
“Of them, 156 were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 3, 50, 85, 587 was recovered,” it said.
