RAJOURI, Aug 2: At least seven persons were injured in a road accident in Manjakote area of district Poonch today.
Official sources said that a passenger bus bearing registration number JK02AX-3653, travelling from Kotli Kalaban to Rajouri, met with an accident near Gambir Brahmana on National Highway 144-A in the Manjakote area. The bus, which was carrying 36 passengers, was reportedly being driven by Guftar Ahmed, a resident of Kotli Kalaban, Manjakote. The accident occurred when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve, causing the vehicle to slip off the road.
On receiving the information, SHO Manjakote, Imran Khan, rushed to the spot along with his team and initiated a swift rescue operation. The injured passengers were immediately evacuated and shifted to GMC Rajouri for medical treatment.
Among the injured were Zaib Kousar, wife of Mushtaq Khan, aged 27 years; Mahria Kousar, daughter of Mushtaq Khan, aged 8 years; Aurangzeb Khan, aged 21 years, resident of Mendhar; and Khalda Kousar, wife of Rajab Khan, aged 25 years, who received minor injuries. Three others were provided just first aid at local hospital. Four were provided treatment at GMC Rajouri. Police has taken cognizance.
